The Story
This That & Those is set in the grounds of the old Andersons Meat Packing Company, the abattoir which closed over 40 years ago. What was once a place of industry has become, somehow, a place of peace — and those who visit feel it the moment they arrive. A place where people are important, conversation is welcome and solitude is afforded.
This That & Those is not just another business. It is, for me, a returning to home, a building of community, a connection place, and a place of peace wherethose who journey here find somewhere safe to unwind, connect, or simply breathe.
It is pet and children friendly, van accommodating, serves smooth coffee and Nannas delicious home baking, offers place specific souvenirs and gifts, and natural pet snacks made with care, sewing crafted with love, and photography that sees beauty. If you are travelling without a sewing machine minor mending can be done on site to get you out of a bind. A place where respect, dignity, service and community are core values.
There are board games, colouring in pages and puzzles to do while you sit with your cuppa or cold drink. There is bucket golf, driving and chipping nets as well as level 1 community coaching if your needs are a little more physical. Room for children to run, orbit tennis, soccer net and even hoola hoops. We have the sweetest silkie chooks to talk to and help you relax as you watch their antics each one having their own personality. Often there is live music and community barbecues as well.
This that & Those is an experience, one people are happy to come back to time and again.
Growing up in Jennings, leaving, and finding my way back — this place is, in every way that matters, home. The value in and importance of community is one of the values that has stayed with me and grown as I travelled and raised the children I am blessed to have had. The importance of and need for creativity is another. Both give and take, time, opportunity, experience, connection and results. The level we engage in and commit to determines all the above.
